Life Goes On – The New Generation

In my group of dear and close friends — the type of friends who really are like family — we are now blessed with a new generation.  Eighteen months ago, Zaven Garrett Tatarian was born.  In early June, Zaven became a big “brother” with the birth of Cameron James Stuart Menefee.

The sounds of baby cries and little feet puttering around are now the sweet and delightful background music to our family gatherings and most especially, on the pétanque courts.  After all, the story of our family began with a set of boules, a cochonnet, and a ceaseless addiction to this funny French game that we all love to play.

As for my personal “addiction” to photography, Zaven and Cameron could not be more perfect subjects in which to let loose with my camera.

This past Saturday, my home was the venue for a memorial gathering.  The father of a pétanque family member had recently passed away.  Zaven and Cameron were there with their parents and an impromptu photography session ensued.  The happy energy of Zaven and the serenely sleepy Cameron brought smiles to everyone.

At the memorial gathering, the obvious symbolism was not lost on any of us:  la vie continue, life does indeed go on.  Boy does it ever…………….and boy is it every worth it!

Lennon and McCartney certainly had it right :  Oh bla di, oh bla da, life goes on……… la la la la life goes on!
